The Rum Barrel

This is the Rum Barrel.  Updated as sobriety permits, checked even less frequently, and always full to the brim with novel ideas, recipies, and of course....Rum.  If there's an idea you think your fellow imbibers would enjoy, send us an email and maybe we'll post it here!  Who knows, we may even give you credit for it...




Rolling Rock and Roll:

1 pint of Rolling Rock Lager
1oz of Rich and Rare Canadian Whiskey
 
Drop a shot glass of the whiskey into a pint glass of Rolling Rock lager and serve.



A Monkey's Rum Martini:

1/2oz Bailey's Irish Creme
1/2oz Bananna Liquor
1/2oz Myers Dark Rum
1/2oz Cream
Shredded coconut

Shake the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and pour into a glass with shredded coconut on the rim.






German Chocolate Cake:

3/4 ozMalibu Coconut Rum
3/4 oz Creme De Caco
1/4 oz Frangelico Hazelnut Liquer
1 Spash of Half and Half

Combine everything in a mixing glass and shake over ice.  Strain and garnish with four dabs of canned whipping cream.






Ambrosia:


1oz Applejack
1oz Brandy
1 dash of TripleSec
The juice of 1 lemon
Chilled Champagne.

Combine and shake everything but the champagne and pour into a highball glass over ice.  Fill with the champagne and stir gently.



A Kiss Goodnight:

Add strawberry vodka and raspberry pucker, then fill half way with cranberry juice. Fill the rest with 7-up and float a splash of dark rum on top.

Hurricane recipe



Pour all but the juices, in order listed, into a hurricane glass three-quarters filled with ice. Fill with equal parts of grapefruit and pineapple juice, and serve.




 







Rum Ice Cream


Dirty Pirate Popsicles

2 1/2 C Coke
1/3 C Captain Morgan spiced rum
1/3 C Kahlua

Mix all the ingredients in a large glass and pour into a popsicle mold.  Freeze the mixture long enough to add a popsicle stick and then freeze solid overnight.


Vesper: (Shaken, not stirred.)

3oz gin
1oz vodka
1/2oz lilet blanc wine

Shake together well and strain into a deep champagne goblet, then add a thin slice of lemon peel.


Cpooertone Punch:

3/4 oz Creme De Bananna
3/4 oz Coconut Rum
3oz Pineapple Juice
Midori Melon

Combine the Creme De Bannana, Rum, and Pineapple Juice with ice in a mixing tim and shake well.  Strain over ice and float the Midori.  Garnish with a watermelon wedge.




Hard Lemonade:

Ingredients:

Lemon slice or wedge
Splash of 7-up
Splash of club soda
Sour mix
2 ounces white N.O. Rum

Directions:

Combine ingredients over ice in a rocks glass. Stir and garnish with a lemon slice.
Serves: 1





Sailor Jerry's Butter Rum Recipe:

1/2 oz Sailor Jerry® spiced navy rum
1/2 oz DeKuyper® Buttershots liqueur
1/2 oz Smirnoff® Vanilla Twist vodka
5 1/2 oz Jones® cream soda

Pour the Sailor Jerry spiced rum, DeKuyper Buttershots liqueur, Smirnoff vanilla vodka and Jones cream soda into a collins glass almost filled with ice cubes. Stir well, and serve.

Tropical Orgasm:

pink lemonade
1/2 fifth Absolut® vodka
1/4 bottle Mr & Mrs T® strawberry daiquiri mix
1 splash Captain Morgan® Original spiced rum
Start with 3/4 of a pitcher with pink lemonade. Then add the vodka. Mix till you can barely taste the vodka, then add the strawberry daiquiri mix, then a splash of rum. (Just a bit, do not add too much) Stir and then chill.

Bacardi Oakheart 750ml 35% Alc by volume


This was easily the smoothest rum blend I've had straight up or on ice.  It had a strong scent and a heavy oak flavor true to its title.  The spiced rum was introduced last fall and left me feeling like it should have just been a seasonal blend.

Overall: 6 of 10
Better than most but out of place during the summer months.







Rum And Coke:
The simple, no-frills classic.

4oz of your choice of rum
8oz of Coca-Cola

Stir together over ice in a pint glass and enjoy.






The Four Horsemen:
Jose Cuervo® Especial gold tequila
3/4 oz
Jagermeister® herbal liqueur
3/4 oz
Rumple Minze® peppermint liqueur
3/4 oz
Bacardi® 151 rum
Four Horsemen recipe
3/4 oz
Pour contents in shaker over ice and shake well. Pour into glass. This is a big shooter so you have to use a small rocks glass.
